Parents play a key role in their kids enjoying or not enjoying sports. Being pushed into a sport can lead to disappointment. Parents need to set goals not only for their kids, but for themselves as well. Supportive and positive parents are great, but boisterous cheer-leading from parents on the sidelines can actually lead to distraction and can cause a drain on the child and lack of enjoyment of the game.

Richard Keefe, a sports psychologist from Duke University discusses and talks about parent’s important role in supporting their children’s sports endeavors.
